By magnetizing and demagnetizing a tiny layer of ferromagnetic material on the disk, a hard disk drive stores data. When data is written to the drive, the read/write head of the magnetic drive coupling magnetizes the numerous tiny individual magnetic cells that make up each sector of the disk, which is divided into numerous tracks. A tiny wire coil wrapped around ferrite is used to make hard drive heads. The coil is energized while writing, a powerful magnetic field is created, and the recording surface next to the gap becomes magnetized. Additionally, the actuator that pushes the read/write head into position uses strong magnets.

Magnetically coupled pumps, also known as magnetic impeller pumps, have two main advantages over non-magnetic pumps: because the impeller is connected to the driving magnets and a shabby magnetism alone, if the impeller is obstructed and stops turning, the motor can continue to turn without breaking out, avoiding a long-lasting detriment. Magnetically coupled pumps are made up of a motor-driven shalt with an attachment of powerful maonets and another smaller set of magnets attached to another shaft connected to the impeller that sits within the larger ring of magnets.

The majority of processing facilities will use a magnetic separation device of some kind to clear production or processing lines of contaminated ferrous and paramagetic materials. Strong filter rod magnets and some sort of conveyor system are typically used for this.
